As an early childhood educator or parent, you may know that children begin 'learning' reading and writing skills as early as the first few months of life. These very early years are a critical time to prepare children for literacy learning later in school.
Recent research from The National Academy of Sciences emphasizes that all young children need environments that promote language and literacy growth.
HeadsUp! Reading is a state-of-the-art, college-level teacher training course designed to address this need. The course is designed to improve early literacy outcomes for young children by improving teaching practices. Students can take the course beginning October 4 via distance learning satellite, and will be supported by on-site facilitators and a website.
If you are an early childhood practitioner or are a parent, HeadsUp! Reading can help you improve the reading readiness and later reading and writing skills of children up to six years of age.
The course offers not only professional development training, but also credits toward your professional development goals, whatever they may be.
